Police beef up security

The police said that all police stations in the country have been instructed to tighten security during the forthcoming festive season.

The police has taken increased security measures during the festive season to safeguard the security in the country. According to new security arrangements,the Colombo district will be manned by policemen both in uniform and civil clothing. Security in all public places and other crowded places including religious and cultural places in Colombo will be tightened under new security arrangement.

Mobile police units will patrol the city throughout the day to make sure everything will be functioning smoothly, a Police spokesman said.

Police request the public to be more vigilant and alert for any suspicious activities and contact them if required immediately on the following numbers, 011-2433333 or 2437156.
