Foreign policy attracts powerful nations
When the Pakistan President arrived in the country with leading
investors the Indian Foreign Secretary was laying the foundation stone
for the construction of the Northern Railway line.
The involvement of powerful nations of the region demonstrates the
cordial relationship of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's foreign policy and
acknowledgment of Sri Lanka as a stable nation by world powers.
Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella made these
observations at the Menikhinna Maha Vidyalaya of the Kundasale
electorate after distributing agri-equipment and plant material to
farmers. Coconut and cashew seedlings were distributed to 400 farmers
through the Coconut Development Board and Cashew Corporation. Farmers
were also given a bag of fertilizer.
The Minister said Sri Lanka in the recent past was considered by the
world community as a country devoid of a future and an unstable country.
Certain local elements and some foreign countries were holding the view
that Sri Lanka will never defeat terrorism.
The President who vanquished terrorism from the country which had no
hope for tomorrow, has now laid the foundation for the development of
the country. He said that steps are underway to develop local
industries. Large scale foreign investors have expressed willingness to
establish industries in Sri Lanka. The Minister opened a new "Seva
Piyasa" Office at Galmaduwa in the Kundasale electorate.
