Promote research culture for country's development

Sri Lankan universities should promote a research culture within the
university system to assist the country's development process.
The ninth Annual Research Session (ARS) of the Eastern University of
Sri Lanka is a platform to reach that target, ARS Coordinator Dr K
Rajendram told the Daily News. Research findings are important for the
development process of the country. Local universities are doing less
researches compared with foreign universities.
During last three decades, Sri Lanka is in development process lagged
because of the war.
Now we are thinking how to develop the country, this conference will
address several important disciplines such as conflict, peace and
development, human values and social issues, and natural resources and
sustainable development, he said.
The conference with a theme Towards Post-war Development, will be
held from December 17 to 18 at the University Auditorium in Chenkalady.
At the conference about 100 research papers will be presented under 10
tracks.
Annamalai University Tamil Nadu Vice Chancellor Dr M Ramanadan will
be the Special Guest while former Vavuniya Campus Rector Prof M
Balakrishnan will deliver the keynote address.
