Sri Lanka's stock market slipped on Monday in thin volumes on concerns over the phasing out of margin trading, despite the Securities and Exchange Commission's six-month extension of a deadline to stop the practice.

The main share index ASPI fell 41.38 points or 0.63 percent to 6,506.30.

The bourse saw trading volume of 97.1 million shares on Monday, against average volume of 93.4 million and 52.7 million in the past five and 30 days respectively. Turnover was 1.2 billion rupees.
