Floods hit over 31,000 in Mannar

Three injured hospitalized:

Over 31,533 people in the Mannar district have been affected by floods caused by torrential rains that lashed the province during the past few days.

Disaster Management Center sources said that 6,332 families have been affected by floods in the Mannar district.

Mannar District Secretary Nicholas Pillai said that three persons who were injured in the floods have been admitted to the Kandy General Hospital for further treatment.

He said arrangements have been made to assist the flood affected families by providing food and other essentials.

Meanwhile, if the rains continue today, they will be housed in the schools in the district.
