Ceylinco Insurance bags top honours
Ceylinco Insurance once again bagged top honours when it emerged the
winner in 'The Insurance Sector' at the National Business Excellence
Awards 2010 conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka
for the seventh consecutive year.

Ceylinco Insurance, Ceylinco Life and Ceylinco VIP are considered as
some of the country's most valuable brands winning several awards and
accolades.
The company has deployed one of the largest sales teams in Sri
Lanka.numbering over 6,000 trained insurance professionals attached to
over 260 branches of General Insurance and 184 of Life Insurance.
NDB wins two awards
NDB Bank won two awards at the National Business Excellence Awards,
proving the bank's continued dedication towards remaining a financial
institution that delivers innovative solutions with 'best in industry'
service. NDB Bank was awarded a Silver Award for "Excellence in Business
and Financial Performance" and a Merit Award for 'Business Excellence -
Banking and Financial Sector' at the recently held ceremony.
NDB Bank's Chief Executive Officer, Russell De Mel said, "We consider
it a great honour to have received recognition at the National Business
Excellence Awards for demonstrating excellence in our business
practices. The overall stability and performance of NDB Bank over time,
has been a great assurance to our customers and stakeholders. We will

The applicants for these awards were evaluated by an eminent panel of
judges over the last few months, followed by an in-depth interview. The
Business Excellence Awards are presented based on the business and
financial performance of an organization, in the areas of financial
stability, steady growth, balanced business portfolio, growth of value
addition and performance against the industry. The awards criterion also
included excellence in product and process innovation, successful
implementation of best practices in performance management, best
practices in corporate governance and successful institutionalization of
corporate social responsibility practices.
The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award
competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL)
with a view to recognizing the business enterprises, which have
demonstrated excellence in business whilst contributing to the economic
progress of the country.
CLP wins Silver
Ceylon Leather Products (CLP) PLC won the Silver award at the
National Business Excellence Awards - 2010 organized by the National
Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.
Ceylon Leather Products PLC won the runner up award in the
Manufacturing - Apparel, Textile and Leather Products section.
The company has launched its exclusive range of footwear, bags,
accessories and home-ware in 2010.
"Natural raw materials are used to enhance the textured surface of
these leather products and the new designs infuse local hand-woven
fabric and coconut shells adding spice and allure to the innovative
designs," Ceylon Leather Products PLC Managing Director and CEO,
Sitendra Senaratne said to Daily News Business.
The key to Ceylon Leather's success is the inspiration through Nature
and maintaining a balance between human well-being and lifestyle
improvement and preservation of natural eco-systems and resources, he
said.

Gold award for Piramal Glass
It was yet another "feather in their cap" for Piramal Glass who
pursue excellence in all their endeavours when they were honoured with
both a gold as well as a silver award at the National Business
Excellence awards 2010, awarded by the National Chamber of Commerce of
Sri Lanka (NCCSL).
This is the 7th consecutive award ceremony held by the National
Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, which demonstrates the Chambers
commitment towards the development of local industry, by encouraging and
rewarding the contributors to the economy through exemplary business
practices.
The continuous growth of the company during the past three years was
recognised by them being presented with the Gold Award in the Chemical
and Ceramic Sector, as well as the Silver Award in the Best Tech - Savvy
Company sector. The awards were made by evaluating factors such as
Business and Financial Performance, Global Reach, Technological
Investment, Performance Management, Corporate Social Responsibility,
Corporate Governance and other key drivers.
