Building bridges through entrepreneur education

St Michael's College Michael Heights Company President D D Andrew under the Junior Achievement/Young Entrepreneur Sri Lanka High School Company Program was honoured as the "Most Outstanding Young Entrepreneur" for 2009 from the Batticaloa Region at The Young Entrepreneur Sri Lanka's Regional Awards Ceremony held at Batticaloa St Michael's College.

The chief guest on the occasion Bartleet Group of Companies Chairman Eraj Wijesinghe presented the Patrick Amarasinghe Award for the Most Outstanding Entrepreneur to D. D. Andrew in a distinguished gathering of Principals, Teachers, Parents, Representatives of the Business community and several Businessmen from Colombo and Batticaloa region as well as students from Vivekananda Balika Maha Vidyalaya, St Michael's College, Vincent Girls' High School, Methodist Central College and St. Cecelia's Convent.

Speaking to a crowd of fellow students who have just started their own JA/YESL High School Companies the winner D. D. Andrew of St. Michael's College said; "Run your own JA/ YESL Company so that you can have many experiences managing a true to life company. Try to run a company on your own and do not be afraid by your faults. We have made many mistakes but now we have won the award as best company. So try and try and try and one day you can also win this award not only regional even national because if I can you also can". D D Andrew went on to say that it is a better to be an employer than be the employee and create jobs for many.
