Errant traders face the music

Errant Traders were nabbed by Ampara Consumer Affairs Authority Investigation Officers in raids in the Ampara District during the last month and cases were filed against them in Kalmunai, Ampara, Akkaraipattu and Pottuvil Magistrate Courts.

Investigation Officers led by District Co-ordinating Officer H L A Kudoos apprehended persons for selling the items on the above marked prices, not exhibiting the price list, failure to exhibit SLS mark, deceptive conduct in selling items and not containing details in manufacturers packing.

Coordinating Officer Kudoos told the Daily News that 20 traders were nabbed at Nintavur while 16 traders at Akkaraipattu, nine traders at Pottuvil, eight traders at Kalmunai, six traders in Ampara, three traders at Uhana and one trader at Karangawa were caught for breaching the laws and regulations of the Consumer Affairs Authority.
