Chief Minister cracks whip

North Western Province Chief Minister Atula Wijesinghe has instructed OICs in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts to intensify search operations on illegal transporting of sand, timber and cattle next year.

A senior official attached to the Chief Minister's office said a program to educate the farming community and schoolchildren on the value of protecting flora and fauna will also be carried out from next year.

The conference to educate in farming community and schoolchildren on the responsibility of protecting flora and fauna will be carried out at electoral and educational zonal levels with the participation of Environment Ministry officials.
