Death for murder case suspect

Kandy High Court Judge W C Pushpamali yesterday passed a death penalty on a suspect who was found guilty of all charges in a murder case.

The suspect had killed Pahalagedara Sida (56), a father of two by shooting twice at point blank and then on noticing the victim was still alive had stabbed him to death in 1992.

The suspect, a father of three, was identified as Heenagedara Wedikkara (50), a resident of Medakanda Yaya in Laggala.

The Attorney General had filed indictment against the suspect at the Kandy High Court.

A minor brawl between these two had resulted in the murder.

The suspect's wife told the Police that Sida died due to shooting and stabbing inflicted on him by her husband.
