Complain if obstacles not cleared -Ministry

The Power and Energy Ministry in a press release requested public cooperation to minimize disasters caused to human lives due to falling of trees and branches owing to heavy rains and bad weather conditions prevailing at present.

The Ministry said regional electricity depots cut trees and branches hanging over power lines to provide an uninterrupted service to 3.4 million consumers and requested to complain to regional electricity engineer against regional depots which fail to clear such obstacles and also regarding dangerous power lines close to residential premises on dedicated telephone line 1987. The Ministry also requested the public to avoid using electric equipment during thunder and lightening.
