Children's and Women's bureau units will be established at every police station in the Anuradhapura district.

Plan Sri Lanka, a non governmental organization will provide financial assistance for this.

North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake opened newly constructed children's and Women's Bureaus at the Mahawilachchiya and the Tanthirimale police stations.

Anuradhapura police Senior Superintendent Mervin J. Karunaratne toldthe Daily News that the purpose of opening such bureaus was to assure a peaceful living for children and women by curbing violence against them and for the eradication of child abuse.
