Royal college clinched the Orville Abeynaike trophy by beating traditional rivals S Thomas', Mount Lavinia by four goals to one in their annual hockey encounter played at Mount Lavinia yesterday after leading 2/0 at half time.

D Gunasekara (one) and Hussain Kuthubdeen (one) scored the goals for Royal in the first half while S Jayawardnae (one) and C Wijesinghe (one) sounded the boards for the winners in the second half while H T Fernando scored the solitary goal for the losers.
