World’s top players for Carlton Sevens

Rugby fans in Sri Lanka will get a rare opportunity of witnessing the world’s top rugby sevens players in action when the Carlton Sevens Sri Lanka 2010 is worked off at the Sugathadasa Stadium on November 27 and 28, 2010.

Digicel Fiji Barbarians, South Africa Vipers, Australia Legends, Samoa Barbarians, New Zealand Legends, Kenya Shajuu along with Spain, Korea, Malaysia, Germany, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, China and host nation Sri Lanka will vie for honours in this prestigious tournament. The tournament will be once again organized by the Tharunyata Hetak Organization with SriLankan Airlines and Etisalat as the co-sponsors.

Last year’s winners Digicel Fiji Barbarians will be a strong contender for the title. They will have the services of scrum half Mucago a top class player while Burotu could be considered as the world’s best prop forward. William Ryder who gave a dazzling display in last year’s tournament has been left out of the Fiji team. The Fijians will face a strong challenge from Samoa and Kenya.

New Zealand Legends will have six players who are in their main Sevens squad while Australia Legends have included six players who will join their main team at the Dubai Sevens in the first week of December. Participating teams and pool

Pool A: Digicel Fiji Barbarians, Spain, Korea and Malaysia

Pool B: Kenya Shajuu, Australia Legends, Germany and Chinese Taipei

Pool C: Samoa Barbarians, Japan, United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan

Pool D: New Zealand Legends, South AfricaVipers, China and Sri Lanka
