Mulaganda Kuti Vihara anniversary
The 79th anniversary of the Mulaganda Kuti Vihara in Isipathana, Deer
Park, Saranath will be celebrated on November 21 along with the annual
Katina Cheevara dana ceremony.
The celebrations will commence on November 20 evening with the
chanting of the Maha Parithrana Desana by Bhikkus from Sri Lanka, India,
Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
Special prayers
The Borella Ahadiyya School will organize special prayers to mark
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second term in office at the Al Hijra Maha
Vidyalaya, Kuppiyawatte, Colombo on November 21 at 10 am.
Lecture
A lecture on the Gospel of St Mark organized by Colombo YMCA Bible
Study Institute will be delivered by Professor in Sacred Scripture at
the National Seminary Ampitiya Rev Father Nilendra Gunasekere at the
Colombo YMCA Forum Hall on November 22 at 6 pm.
Felicitation
The Dodangaslanda Wimala Sakthi Padanama will felicitate teachers who
served in the Dodangaslanda electorate at Rambadagalla Maha Vidyalaya on
November 22.
North Western Province Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe, Provincial
Education Director J G N Thilakaratne and Ibbagamuwa Zonal Education
Director Herath Kulasuriya will participate.
Awareness program
An awareness program for Estate Managers and a training program for
Fair Trade Officers 2nd service will be held from November 20 to 23 at
the Haldumulla National Research Medical Plants Garden.
The program will begin at 8 am each day.
Get-together
Yatiyantota St Gabriel's College past student's get-together will be
held at the Ruwanwella Dr N M Perera Memorial Hall, on November 21 from
9.30 a m to 3.30 pm
National Shilpa Awards
An awards ceremony organized by the National Crafts Council (NCC) for
handicrafts artists 2009 and 2010 handicrafts exhibitions will be held
at Folk Art Center in Battaramulla on November 25 at 1.00 pm. Prime
Minister D M Jayaratne will be the chief guest.
Conference
A Conference to review facilities provided for Sri Pada Pilgrims will
be held at the Hatton-Dickoya Urban Council Auditorium on November 23 at
Hatton.
Heads of all Government Departmental offices will attend the
conference.
Light to life
The German Embassy will distribute 100 solar lamps among 100
displaced families of Kanagrayankulam in Vavuniya. The program will help
upgrade basic living conditions of these resettled families.
The solar lamps as an environment friendly energy alternative versus
the widely used kerosene lamps serve as a light system for protection
against snake bites, a common problem in rural villages islandwide.
New bus service
A new bus service started between Neluwakanda and Matale to mark the
President’s swearing in for the second term in office by Transport
Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake and Matale Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman
Nimal Jayawardana.
Special trains for Nidahas exhibition
Two special trains from Colombo, Fort to Polgahawela and Colombo,
Fort to Kalutara South are operating from November 19 to 22 midnight for
the public returning home after participating at the Nidahasa Exhibition
at the Independence Square. |
