Commander reviews progress in Army Farm

Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Ven Elle Gunawansa Thera visited a 10 acre model farm cultivated by the army at Ekala, Jaela as a model farm to review the progress and find possibilities for sale of the produce.

The project, launched in collaboration with the Lakviru Sevana Vocational Centre for the differently abled and the Army General Service Corps under the auspices of Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera and Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya uses self-made compost manure.

The land previously used by Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation has been given for this purpose on an initiative, taken by Ven Elle Gunawansa Thera. The Army started cultivation and a Dairy Farm at the premises several months ago. The cultivation is carried out by the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC).
