Arable lands to aid food production

The Government will take measures to grow all lands that are suitable for cultivation with the aim of cultivating all types of food, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said at a Vapmagul ceremony held at the Homagama, Meepay, Batawala, Muttassa paddy field.

The Minister said the Government will make agriculture the most profitable business in the country. Minister Abeywardene said the prices of food would be higher than the prices of oil in the world marked in next fourty years and a higher income should be earned from local products.

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Agriculture Deputy Minister Jagath Pushpakumara also participated in the Vapmagula.
