Peace only way to reconciliation
Priyanka Kurugala
People take trivial and unnecessary things seriously. It creates
problems in the mind. According to the Buddha's teachings the people can
always hope for reconciliation, Ven Ajahn Brahmawanso Thera said.
He was addressing the World Fellowship of Buddhists Conference
organized by the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress. The conference was held
at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel.
The theme of the session was "Reconciliation of the teachings of the
Buddha".
Reconciliation is an essential team work where argument has no place.
A genuine Buddhist can forgive anything, he said. Addressing the WFB
conference Senior Vice President Dr Ananda Guruge said this subject is a
process of maintaining a friendly relationship with the enemy in the
event of conflicts.
Disputes and conflicts have been inherent in human society.
Reconciliation needs to be achieved through amity, unity, harmony and
peace. Happiness is the unity of monks.
It is the scriptural striving of the monk's society.
Peace and security could be ensured, together with amity, unity and
harmony, he said.
Dr Heme Gunatilake and other representatives also spoke. |
