Brawl at elders' home results in death

An elderly man died after being admitted to hospital following a brawl at an elders' home in Ampitiya Kandy yesterday. The victim was identified as P Dharmasena 74. The brawl started between two inmates of the elders' home over a clothes line. One inmate had tried to dry his clothes and other had interrupted him leading to the clash between them. One inmate was critically injured and admitted to the Kandy hospital. He died while undergoing treatment.

Kandy police arrested a sixty nine-year-old suspect for the alleged attack.

A decision however is pending whether death was due to the attack or natural reasons.

The postmortem was to be conducted yesterday evening.
