President's swearing-in:
Special program in Nikaweratiya
Cooperative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando yesterday
told the Daily News that a special program will be launched in all
places of religious worship in the Nikaweratiya electorate in view of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second swearing.
The main Buddhist function will be held Withikuliya Temple in the
Nikaweratiya electorate while the Hindu, Catholic and Islam religious
functions are scheduled to be held at Magalla Hindu Kovil, Nikaweratiya
Church and Nambuwawa Mosque on November 18.
A special youth conference will be held at the Nikaweratiya National
School today (17) where over 1,000 youths in the electorate would
participate. Minister Fernando and Hambantota District Parliamentarian
Namal Rajapaksa will be the chief guests.
These youths would be educated on the dawn of new era and the
responsibility of the younger generation at this meet. A rural
electrification scheme will also be opened on this day at Ottukulama.
Meanwhile, 12 Lak Sathosa outlets, 10 Coop City branches and 21 Mini
Coop city branches would be opened islandwide to mark the inauguration
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second term of Office.
Paranthan Chemicals Company Limited has organized a number of
programs to mark the inauguration of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's
second swearing. The opening of Laksathosa outlets will be held on
November 18 while Coop and Mini coop cities would take place on November
22.
A special pooja is to be held at the Kovil situated in the Paranthan
Chemicals Company premises on November 18. A tree planting campaign and
distribution of stationery to the schoolchildren will also be held at
the Paranthan Hindu College premises on November 19.
The National Insurance Trust Fund has organized a blood donation camp
at the Funds office at D R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10 today and a
Bodhi pooja is to be held in the evening today at the Sri Sambuddhaloka
Viharaya in Fort.
Wayamba Provincial Health Minister Asoka Wadigamangawa will open a
ward for Bhikkus at Anamaduwa hospital on November 18 to mark President
Mahinda Rajapaksa's second swearing.
Anamadua SLFP organizer Deputy Speaker Priyankara Jayaratne, NWP
Governor Tissa R Balalla will participate. An all night Pirith chanting
will start tomorrow at 7.30 p.m.
A tree planting campaign is scheduled to be held on November 1.
An almsgiving for the members of Maha Sangha and provision of mid-day
meal to the patients of Anamaduwa hospital will also take place on this
day.
