Delays in law procedures will end - Justice Minister

Arrangements will be made to end delays and other problems in the field of justice, Justice Minister Athauda Seneviratne said.

The Minister said this during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Kuniyo Takahashi at the Justice Ministry.

The Minister said every effort will be made to restore law and order in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

"Since terrorism has been eradicated, what is now required is to maintain peace and order in the country," Seneviratne said.

Making changes in the field of law is urgent and international community support is vital for this. In effecting development, the law too has to be strengthened, the Minister added. The Ambassador said Japan will extend assistance to improve the judicial activities specially for the provision of legal assistance to the needy community.
