The main target of the Nidahasa exhibition is to lead the country
forward to achieve its development goals, State Management and Reforms
Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka said.
The Minister said so addressing a media awareness program yesterday,
regarding the preparations for the Nidahasa exhibition. The exhibition
is a part of a series of activities to mark the occasion of the second
term inauguration of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his birthday.
The program commenced with a tree planting campaign which exceeded
the target by reaching two million trees countrywide planted in 11
minutes.
The main aspect of the tree planting campaign is soil preservation
and environment conservation, the Minister added.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said this is the beginning of
new development era.
In line with this program, the Magampura harbour will be commissioned
by the President on Thursday.
The Minister said that the people in the country never imagined that
terrorism could be eradicated within three years. But as a result of the
President’s brave leadership, the country is experiencing freedom. The
Nidahasa exhibition will be held to appreciate President Rajapaksa’s
untiring effort, in liberating the country from the three decades
terrorism.
Youth Affairs and Empowerment Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that
the country is on a fast development track. For the first time in six
decades roads in the North and East are being carpeted.
The exhibition will be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on
November 18 at 6 pm and will be held for three days. Admission is free.
It will be open to the public from 2.00 pm to 10.00 pm daily, the
Minister added.
