Monfils sinks Federer to meet Soderling
Gael Monfils stunned top seed Roger Federer 7-6 (9/7), 6-7 (1/7), 7-6
(7/4) to reach the ATP Paris Masters final on Saturday, after Robin
Soderling had edged Michael Llodra in an equally epic tie. Monfils, the
French 12th seed, fought back from 4-1 down in the third set to reach
the final at the Bercy arena.
Alonso keeps calm amid title race frenzy
Two-times drivers champion and current series leader Fernando Alonso
declared himself confident, for Sunday's championship-deciding Abu Dhabi
Grand Prix. On a mild floodlit evening at the impressive Yas Marina
circuit, the 29-year-old Spaniard made it clear he believed he could
clinch his third title in his maiden season.
Kom set to acieve success in Guangzhou
M.C. Mary Kom is a five-time world champion, a mother of two with a
single burning ambition - to become one of the first Asian Games
champions in women's boxing.
After being added to the programme for the 2012 London Olympics,
women's boxing makes its Games debut in Guangzhou with three titles up

Pantani's mother distressed
One of several yellow jerseys worn by former Tour de France champion
Marco Pantani has been stolen from a cycling salon in Milan, according
to press reports Saturday.
Troubled champion Pantani, the 1998 winner of the epic race who
