Cop copped for stealing from cop

Medawachchiya Police have arrested a police constable for stealing a mobile phone belonging to another police constable who is serving at the police station. Produced before the Medawachchiya Magistrate, he was remanded till November 16.

The suspect police officer had earlier served at the Medawachchiya police station and is currently said to be serving at the Pulmudai police station.

Medawachchiya police said that there was also an earlier instance in which he had stolen a mobile phone.

The stolen phone had been found in the possession of the suspect's wife. Further investigations are proceeding under instructions of Medawachchiya OIC Gihan Amarasuriya.
