Navy tree planting campaign

In accordance with the 1.1 million tree planting to mark the second swearing-in ceremony of the President, Sri Lanka Navy has planned to launch a tree planting campaign in Naval bases and establishments islandwide today.

As per the schedule 30,365 saplings will be planted in all Naval areas as follows: Northern Naval area - 2,000 coconut saplings, Eastern Naval area - 25,000 plants, Western Naval area - 50 plants, North Western Naval area - 1,550 plants, Southern Naval area - 695 plants, North Central Naval area - 1,070 plants.

In addition to the tree planting, a series of programs will be conducted in all Naval areas during the green month paralleled to the national tree planting program. The scheduled programs are: Programs organized to clean the surrounding and protect the natural environment.

Awareness programs on conservation of agri crops and planting.

Awareness programs on water management and usage of waste water for cultivation. Initiative for establish bio-gas projects.
