Rs 30,000 drug fine on five

Five people who possessed 10 mg of heroin and 3,450 mg of cannabis were fined Rs 30,000 by Matara Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga.

The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by Matara Police Corruption Prevention Unit Friday.

A resident in Walgama was fined Rs 10,000, while four residents in Dalkada were fined Rs 5,000 each for possessing cannabis.
