Foreign universities sans Arts

Foreign universities that would be established in the country would have no Arts and Humanities Faculties, said Deputy Finance Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama. Hence, the majority of undergraduates studying in the Arts and Humanities facilities in State universities should not entertain any fear, he added.

He was addressing a meeting held Friday to provide scholarships to 76 students from the Katugastota education zone who had passed the Grade V scholarship examination. Each student was given a bank pass book with Rs 1,000 and a set of educational tools.

Among those present were Katugastota Zonal Education Director Leena Perera, People’s Bank Regional Manager Boniface Silva.
