Islandwide religious ceremonies

Islandwide religious ceremonies has been organized to mark President Mahinda Rajapaksa's birthday and the inauguration of his second term of Office under the instructions of Prime Minister D M Jayaratne.

Multi religious ceremonies have been organized throughout the day on Friday November 19 at Ambuluwawe, Gampola. An all night Pirith chanting ceremony too would be held at Ambuluwawe on the same day.

Also under the guidance of the Buddhist Affairs Department, Buddhist monks chanting in vehicles Pirith will parade the roads linking all major towns.

Religious ceremonies of Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Islam have been organized to throughout the country to coincide with the occasion.
