SP prepares for tree planting campaign

The national tree planting campaign in the Southern Province will
cover all villages.
Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva said they plan to plant at
least one plant in each house in the Southern Province at 7.10 am. The
Government plans to plant 2.5 million plants islandwide during the next
10 months.
Meanwhile, religious observances will be held at all Divisional
Secretariats in the Southern Province to mark President Mahinda
Rajapaksa’s birthday.
Heads of Government Institutions and employees would plant trees at
their respective work places.
The Chief Minister said teachers and schoolchildren would plant rare
plant varieties in their school gardens.
All farmer organizations will also join this national task,” the
Chief Minister said. |
