Countrywide events mark President’s swearing in
*Nidahasa Exhibition from November 17
*Planting of 1.1 million saplings today
Countrywide ceremonies will be held from today to mark the
inauguration of the second term of office of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
A host of creative works inclusive of a photography exhibition
displaying the achievements made during the period from 2005 to date are
to be launched through this novel exhibition and ceremonies.
Several mega development projects are also underway across the
country in the fields of highways, expressways, thermal and hydro power
generation projects, housing and town and country Planning Water
Projects etc.
Special development projects are being implemented in the north and
the east under Uthuru Wasanthaya and Neganahira Udanaya.
The Nidahasa 2010 Exhibition will be held at Independence Square,
Colombo from November 17 to 20. It will be open to the public from 2.00
pm to midnight during the four days.
The exhibition is being organized by the Government Information
Department in connection with the swearing in of the President for his
Second Term of Office. The national program to plant 1.1 million trees
will be held today under the Deyata Sevana.
It has been decided to plant 1,100,000 trees across the country to
mark the 65th birthday and the inauguration of the second term of office
of the President.
This program is to be implemented with the participation of all
Ministries and Institutions under their purview. |
