Java World Congress and Exhibition
ICT for Sustainable Development Java world congress will be held for
the first time on November 19, 20 and 21 in Colombo at the Sri Lanka
Exhibition and Convention Centre and at the Taj Samudra Hotel.
This initiative is a multi stakeholder partnership program focusing
2010-2020. The website on this initiative (www.javaworldcongress.org)
was launched by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
In August 2010 the Sri Lankan team of the Java World Congress met the
President Mahinda Rajapaksa and he assured them to give support to make
this event a success.
The theme of the world congress is integrating ICT to build and
strengthen social capital to achieve United National Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs). Experts will make presentations under this
theme how, ICT could be utilized to solve social issues in various
fields such as education, food, health, environment, livelihoods and so
on.
Delegates from various countries such as Sweden, USA, UK, Germany,
Netherlands, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Japan, South Africa, Russia,
Greece and UAE are expected to make presentations at this congress.
Java Sri Lanka 2010 Computer Software, Education and Samurdhi Viskam
Exhibition-under the theme e-Parapure Viskam Dakama will be held at
SLECC along with the world congress. This exhibition aims at promoting "ICT
for All and ICT for All Villages" will have following sections.
Display of over 300 software solutions developed by youth of the
"Java Force" using technologies such as Web, Micro, Mobile, Robot and
Business Technologies.
Samurdhi Viskam Udanaya 2010 -National Exhibition of Samurdhi
Entrepreneurs selected from district level competitions organized by the
Samurdhi Authority under the guidance of Economic Development Minister
Basil Rajapaksa. This national exhibition is organized in coincide with
the celebrations of the President taking oaths for the second term, on
November 19.
