Low income families to get 300 houses

Three hundred houses are to be built by the National Housing Development Authority to mark the second term swearing in ceremony of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

These families will be selected from all Divisional Secretariat areas.

Work on the houses would begin on November 18 and they will be handed over to the families by April 2011.

The agreement for this housing project named Sewana Saviya in line with Jana Sewana Jathika Niwasa Wadasatahana was signed by National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera and People's Bank Chairman W Karunajeewa.

The People's Bank is providing Rs 200 million for this project to the NHDA at the rate of 10 percent.
