Support development drive - Speaker

The country is on the threshold of development. It is the duty and responsibility of all Government and Non Government Organizations and the public to support the Government's development drive, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said.

The Speaker was speaking as Chief Guest at the opening of the Hambantota Magampura branch of the National Insurance Trust Fund, an institution affiliated to the Finance Ministry.

"The Government has been performing its duties with commitment during the past five years benefiting the common masses," the Speaker added. He said the Government is committed towards the country's development during the next five years. National Insurance Trust Fund Chairman Senaka Abeygunasekara also spoke.

Lanka fertilizer corporation Chairman M Samsudeen, Highways Ministry Co-ordinating Secretary Dhammika Withanage and National Insurance Trust Fund Director H W Piyadasa were present.
