Joono Simon
Joono Simon has won over 40 international awards, and has been a key
component of renowned advertising agencies such as JWT, Mudra DDB and
SSC&B Lintas amongst others in India. He has been described as being
passionate, driven and work focused. This is best reflected in the array
of brands that he has worked on, which ranges from the Red Cross and
Nippon Paints to Jockey and CavinKare. His previous stints with these
reputed agencies was so exemplary that he has built a reputation for
himself as someone who is able to effortlessly move into a role, deliver
beyond expectations and move on as quietly as he came in, leaving behind
a rich legacy of awards and motivated teams.

Adventurous Camille and married Odile are sisters living in Paris.
Through her part-time job as a tour guide Camille meets Simon, a radio
romance playwright, who by pure coincidence works for the estate agent
from which Odile is buying her dream apartment.
Going Karata kara

Ever tread a slippery slope or faced a gigantic ball rolling towards
you? Some of Sri Lanka’s daring people are about to do so, with Karata
Kara.
This is an entertaining show for which the first ever obstacle race
course has been erected in Sri Lanka. As contestants complete each task
they are sent to the next level towards more hardcore obstacles. Set in
the adventurous and scenic environments of ‘Academy of Adventure’
adjoining Belihul Oya it promises to take the contestant and the viewer
into a world of fun adventure. Karata Kara from Sirasa TV hits the
screens every Wednesday at 6.30 PM as large rotating tables, gigantic
pendulums, slippery walls and moving pathways takes over the
unsuspecting contestants.
The show is one more evening treat, from the Sirasa TV camp and is
directed by Pradeep Mahesh Liyanage.
Prasanna’s movie DVDs released in India
Under construction, a home video distribution imprint that
specializes in the release of important arthouse fare in the South Asian
sub-continent, has released three Prasanna Vithanage films.
Purahanda Kaluwara (Death on a Full Moon Day), Anantha Rathriya (Dark
Night of the Soul) and Akasa Kusum (Flowers of the Sky) are all now in
their catalogue, which features hundreds of films from acclaimed
filmmakers the world over. Under Construction is an initiative of the
Magic Lantern Foundation, an organization that promotes alternative and
arthouse cinema in India and South Asia.
All three films are available to order via their website. The DVDs

Sahithya special
volume
Sahithya special volume published concurrent to the State Literary
Festival, by the State Literary Panel, together with the Cultural
Affairs Department, will be ceremonially launched on November 11 at 3 pm
at Sri Lanka Library and Documentation Services Board auditorium under
the participation of National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Hon Pavithra
Wanniarachchi.
Kelaniya University Sinhala Department Head professor Jinadasa
Dhanansuriya will make an analytical speech on the contents of the
Sahithya special volume. Presentation of copies of to the contributors
will also take place at this ceremony.
Sahithya special volume, edited by Samantha Herath, Percy Jayamanna,
Praneeth Abayasundara and Thimbiriyagama Bandara, carries 46 articles
under eight sub categories: studies on language, old classical
literature, prose, poetry, drama, literary criticism, mass
communication, visual arts and includes six more literary creations.
Hair Flair Fashion Release highlights
Sri Lanka’s first photographic exhibition on hair, make up, colour
and nails took to the Western Province Esthetic Resort on November 6.
The event is the brainchild of Hasini Gunasekara, daughter of
seasoned beautician Deepika Gunasekara.
Titled Hair Flair Fashion Release 2010 the event showcases talents of
hair and beauty professionals groomed by Hasini’s International Academy
of Beauticians (IAB), a training institute which aims to deliver
effective training programs in hair and beauty therapy. Our photographer
