Windies cricketers arrive for a three Test tour
The West Indies cricket team arrived in the island yesterday to play
three tests, five one day matches and a Twenty20 International against
Sri Lanka starting from November 15.
The visitors will begin their tour with a three day practice match
against the Sri Lanka Board XI from November 10 at the SSC ground in
Maitland Place.
The West Indies will then travel to Galle for the opening test match
against Sri Lanka which will commence on November 15. This will be
followed by the second test match at the R. Premadasa Stadium starting
from November 23.
The third and final test match will be worked off from December 1 to
5 at the Pallekelle International Stadium.
This will be the inaugural test match to be played at this venue
which will also be a venue for nest years ICC World Cup.
The two teams will then begin a five match one day international
series on December 9 at the newly constructed Mahinda Rajapaksa
International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. The second match will also
be played at the same venue on December 11.
The teams will then move to Colombo for the remaining three one day
internationals which will be worked off on December 15, 17 and 19 at the
R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The only Twenty20 International between the two teams will be played
at the same venue on December 21. |
