Raid on Kegalle's illegal distilleries

Kegalle Excise officers raided three illegal distilleries last week and arrested six persons with equipment worth Rs 500,000, 300 litres of goda and 30 litres of spirit.

The distilleries in Alawatta, Kodapaluwa and Galapitamada areas had been maintained for a long time.

The suspects are to be produced before Ruwanwella and Warakapola Magistrate Courts.

The raids were conducted by Kegalle Excise officers led by Superintendent Gamini Pushpakumara.
