A gift was presented by Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh
Gunawardene to Maharagama Divisional Secretary Chandraratne Pallegama
for his splendid service to Maharagama masses.
Pallegama served four years as the Divisional Secretary for the
people of Maharagama.
He had been promoted as the Additional Secretary to the Irrigation
and Water Management Ministry from November 1, 2010.
Surprising Pallegama and the employees of the office, the Minister
paid a visit to the office of Pallegama and paid a tribute to the
departing Secretary who had helped him in his development work in
Maharagama electorate. As a memorial gift, the Minister presented a
statue of the Buddha to Pallegama in appreciation of the services to the
public.
This is a rare occurrence from a Minister to visit a Government
officer in his office to felicitate and to greet him at his departure by
a Minister.
The Minister added that officers of his calibre are needed for the
implementation of Mahinda Chintanaya No 2 in order to make Sri Lanka the
Asia’s economic hub by 2015. |
