Iran help for - power projects

Iran has granted financial aid for 244 electricity projects, Power and Energy Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara said. The Government has allocated Rs 6,000 million for 341 electricity projects in the Kurunegala district, he said.

He was speaking at a progress review meeting held at the Kurunegala District Secretariat recently. Work on 16 electricity projects have already been completed under SIDA aid. Work on another 20 electricity projects is in progress while work on another 77 electricity projects is being carried out, he said.

It has been planned to commence work on all new projects at the beginning of next month, the Deputy Minister said.
