Public flock to Kotmale

Over 12,000 persons visited the Upper Kotmale Tunnel yesterday. The CEB had made arrangements to transport the public in buses 500 metres along the tunnel.

Special police teams were deployed for visitors' security and to control the large number of vehicles that reached the project site.

The number of vehicles that queued up to the entrance to the site was more than 1,000 yesterday. More visitors are expected today and tomorrow.

Talawakelle Police OIC Inspector Sumith Gamini said that adequate arrangements will be taken ensure security of all visitors and to provide them facilities.


[ Upper Kotmale open from November 17 to 21]

There is a surge of people eager to visit the Kotmale Project after the President's visit to open the Upper Kotmale tunnel yesterday. Project Director Shavindranath Fernando said with the massive crowds they have made arrangements to allow the public view the project from November 17 to 21.
