Transport Minister Kumar Welgama who attended the seventeenth ITS
World Congress, Busan 2010 in Korea last week on the invitation of the
Korean Government said that the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
combining transport and IT technologies together, can serve as an
efficient and flexible vehicle to help to solve problems in the
transport sector. The Korean Government will support Sri Lanka with
technology and financially to develop railway transport. Sri Lanka
Railways Chief Engineer V Amaratunga said an ITS is being developed to
help meet the challenge of providing safe, efficient ,low emission
