Sarath Fonseka's challenge against expulsion:

Hearing put off for October 26

The Court of Appeal yesterday put off the hearing of Sarath Fonseka's writ application for October 26, 2010.

In the writ application, Fonseka is challenging his expulsion from Parliament. The Court ordered the Prison authorities to bring Fonseka to court on time before hearing of the proceedings.

Deputy Solicitor General Farzana Jameel appeared for the respondents, Secretary General of Parliament, Elections Commissioner and the Attorney General.

President's Counsel Romesh de Silva with Sugath Caldera and Rajiv de Silva appeared for Fonseka.
