Kohli upstages Clarke :
Young Virat Kohli overcame a bout of cramps to
make a career-best 118 as India posted a thrilling five-wicket win
over Australia in the second one-day international on Wednesday. The
21-year-old hit one six and 11 fours in his third hundred to help
India achieve a stiff 290-run target with seven balls to spare in
the day-night game for a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Basketball Championship:
Lankan boys tough contenders
Sri Lankan boys proved that they are among the
top basketball teams in Asia when they performed well at the FIBA
Asia U- 18 Basketball Championship in Yeman recently. For two weeks,
from September 21, Sri Lanka school basketball enthusiasts had been
watching FIBA internet telecasts beamed live from Yemen where the
Sri Lanka youth Basketball players were taking on Asian basketball
giants.

Central Schools Sports Festival on October 23
The Sports festival organized by the Central
Colleges’ Past Pupils’ Association to coincide with the 41st death
anniversary of former Education Minister late Dr C W W Kannangara
will be held at the Oruwala Steel Corporation Grounds, Athurugiriya
on October 23 (Saturday) from 9.00 am onwards. The main item of the
sports festival is the 20/20 cricket tournament among the schools.
