Siri WAWWAGE-Matara Roving Corr.
All academic and non-academic staff of the Ruhuna University staged a
token strike yesterday to protest against the student attack on the Vice
Chancellor and the senior student counsellor on Wednesday. This followed
a decision taken by the University's Vocational Co-ordination Committee
on Wednesday.
An examination to be held at the Science Faculty yesterday had to be
postponed on account of the strike. It is expected to be held on October
23.
Meanwhile, students of all faculties have vacated the campus. Ten
students injured during Wednesdays clash are receiving treatment at the
Matara Hospital.
Matara Police are conducting further investigations into the clash. |
