Trinity hurdler Saleemdeen at his best

Trinity College, Kandy athletics captain M.H. Saleemdeen set a new record in the under 19 boys 400 meters hurdles event by clocking (53.93) seconds at the recently concluded All Island School Games 2010 at Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.

This fine performance bettered his previous best record timing of 54.02 seconds, which he set in the Under 20 Junior National Championship 2010. He was also placed second in the 110m Hurdles event and was awarded the Sri Lanka Schools Colours for his achievements, at the All Island School Games. Saleemdeen from his young age excelled in athletics and hockey.

He was awarded the prestigious Trinity Athletic Lion this year, for his record breaking performances. This promising young, and talented athlete has a bright future.

His Master in Charge S. Dhanapala, his coach A. Ariyarathne, Assistant Coach N. Bandara must also be commended for their efforts, spoting his talents and developing his skills, guiding and training him from his young age at School. Trinity College Principal Brig. Udaya Ariyaratne has also given him all the support and encouragement at all times.
