Country getting ready for economic expansion

Infrastructure facilities and the legal set-up in Sri Lanka has
managed to attract more foreign investors mainly from China and the USA
to promote the ICT industry and other major economic areas in Sri Lanka.
The country is getting ready for an economic expansion with the ICT
industry, Intel South Asia Sales and Marketing Group Managing Director
Ramamurthy Sivakumar said.
He said key health indicators such as the maternal mortality rate,
the infant mortality rate and other key aspects such as education are
doing well in Sri Lanka when compared to emerging countries in the
region creating a platform to revive the economy at a speedy rate.
Sri Lanka is showing positive signs of being a rapidly developing
country in terms of economy, ICT and broadband services in the region.
The country needs to look at employment generation areas especially
in the fields of Business Process Outsourcing and Knowledge Process
Outsourcing in the future to achieve set targets in ICT industry in Sri
Lanka.
Businesses are happening in Sri Lanka rapidly during the post war
scenario and Sri Lankan industrialists are busy with thinking how to
grow their businesses rapidly.
In addition to key economic aspects, many aspects in the society are
improving. Sri Lanka is in the high level of achieving ICT goals in the
world and the country is aiming at belonging the top 50 ICT enabling
countries in the world in three to four years. Intel has also teamed up
with the Sri Lankan Government to enhance ICT skills among the school
teachers and schoolchildren in the country.
