Compensation for families

Arrangements are being made by the Deduru Oya Reservoir Project Office to make a basic payment of Rs 16,000 and Rs 6,000 monthly for each family of whose houses and property were lost in the construction of the Deduruoya Reservoir.

Project Director W L H M Thilakarathne Bandara said these displaced families will be resettled in Radawibendi Ela Scheme at Karuwalagaswewa. They have been provided with an acre plot of land with infrastructure facilities and an one acre paddy land with water facilities.

The monthly subsistence of Rs 6,000 will be paid for 18 months.
