Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara nominated for Nalanda Keerthi Sri 2010
The "Nalanda Keerthi Sri", is a felicitation award accorded annually
to the most outstanding past Nalandians who have excelled in their
respective fields. This awards ceremony is organized by Nalanda Old
Scouts Association (NOSA) together with the Principal, staff and present
student body of Nalanda College.
The "Nalanda Keerthi Sri" Felicitation will be held together with the
Nalanda annual prize giving ceremony at Nalanda College on October 21 at
2 p.m.
Well known social worker, mentor, Sinhala writer, poet, literary
critic and essayist Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara has been nominated for the
"Nalanda Keerthi Sri" award for the year 2010.
The first Nalanda Keerthi Sri Awards ceremony was held in 2003, which
felicitated Henry Jayasena for his excellence in the field of Sinhala
Drama.
In 2004 President Mahinda Rajapaksa was felicitated with the Nalanda
Keerthi Sri award when he assumed office as the Prime Minister. In 2005,
the award was accorded to Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa,
Nilanga Dela. In 2007, NASA Scientist Dr. Sarath Gunapala and in 2008,
Dr. Chandana Jayarathne of the University of Colombo and Ven.
Kuppiyawatte Bodhananda Thera were felicitated for their outstanding
contributions to Science, Technology, Humanity and Society.
