Uva to come alive with Deyata Kirula

The Deyata Kirula 2011 exhibition will be held in Buttala, Moneragala
in line with the Independence Day celebrations, Economic Development
Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
The Deputy Minister said so while participating in an inspection tour
at the location in Buttala where the Deyata Kirula exhibition will be
held from February 4 to 11.
Prior to the exhibition, a series of development activities will be
carried in the Moneragala district. The Government has allocated Rs
15,000 million for the development activities where infrastructure
facilities will be upgraded.
The development program will include carpeting of several roads and
providing water and electricity.
The hospitals in the area too will be renovated together with many
other development activities, the Deputy Minister said.
Fulfilling a long felt need, the Udawalawa-Tanamalwila road is being
constructed.
The Government has allocated Rs 786 million for the road which is
40.5 kilometres in length. It is scheduled to be commissioned before
January 31, 2011. In addition many roads are also being constructed at
total cost of Rs 6,000 million.
The Buttala District Hospital is also being fully renovated with the
financial assistance of a State bank.
Several rural electrification projects too are underway. Initiatives
are being taken to create a better market for agricultural produce of
Uva. The program aims to upgrade the living standard of the people of
Uva, Moneragala Government Agent U K S Mihindukulasooriya said.
