IET holds AGM
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the
world's largest professional institutions for knowledge of engineering
and technology.
IET is the largest professional engineering society in Europe and the
second largest of its type in the world and it has been directly linked
with Engineering Council (EC-UK). IET promotes the mainly advancement of
electrical, electronic, telecommunication, manufacturing, and
facilitates the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
It also provides broad range of services to members to assist them in
developing their careers by improving their capabilities as engineers
specially incorporate engineering and Chartered Engineering
qualifications. IET has mutual arrangements with several engineering
institutions of local countries.
The 74th annual general meeting of IET Sri Lanka network was held
recently at Ceylon Continental hotel, Colombo.
The session started with Annual General Meeting headed by Chairman N
A Senanayake. Then the new committee was formed for the session of
2010/2011 and it was concluded with speech delivered by newly elected
Chairman Manjula Perera.
K B M I Perera was elected Chairman, Rohan Seneviratne as Vice
Chairman, R Jananthan as Secretary, T Surendran as Assistant Secretary,
and T Mohotti was elected Treasurer.
