Ricky’s bright light
The worst possible turn can not be programed. It is
caused by coincidence:
Ricky’s last essay |
Ricky Fernando |
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one
can steal. This is exactly why well known authors like Danielle Steel,
Nathaniel Lachenmeyer and Laura Furman had penned books like His Bright
Light, The Outsider and Ordinary Paradise in memory of their loved ones.
It is a part of the healing technique to immortalize your heart’s
companion in immortal verses much like what Shakespeare did for Henry
Wriothesley, the third earl of Southampton, in his sonnet Shall I
Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day.
Ricky Thomas Fernando had left an entirely different legacy behind
after his demise three months back. The 10 year old son of renowned film
producer and theatre owner Sunil T Fernando was a victim of the deadly
dengue epidemic.
Coincidently the past student of St Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya,
had penned his last essay stating that his ambition was to become a
doctor because he wanted to save people from fallen prey to dengue,
chickungunya and malaria.
“Doctors have to give medicine to people who are sick. Sometimes,
doctors can’t cure their patients. But they still work hard. I wish my
ambition will come true,” a fragment from his essay stated. His words
are to remembered and cherished forever
The three-month remembrance will be held with an alms giving and
service at the St Vincent de Paul Boys Home on October 20.
